Spokesman-Review Pet Photo Contest

OFFICIAL RULES

 The Spokesman-Review Jimmy’s Clubhouse pet photo contest (The Sweepstakes or The Contest) is open to legal residents of the United States. Entrants must be 18 years of age or older. The Contest  is sponsored by The Spokesman-Review (The Sponsor or Sponsor).  Employees, officers, directors and representatives of the Sponsor and their corporate affiliates, and those with whom such persons are domiciled, are not eligible. Void outside of the United States and where prohibited by law. The Contest is subject to all federal, Washington state and local laws.  

HOW TO ENTER AND WIN: No purchase necessary to participate.

THIS IS A READERS’ CHOICE CONTEST AND WINNERS WILL BE ELECTED BY A TALLY OF VOTES.

• There are three pet photo categories: Best Rescued Pet, Best Dog and Best Cat. Voters will choose by viewing photographs submitted by other readers online. 
• Entry and voting can be accessed online by visiting https://pets.spokesman.com/ or by clicking banner promotional ads on spokesman.com.
• Dates of this contest governing entry and voting are published online at Find Local Businesses in Spokane | Spokane Pet Business Directory (spokesman.com)
• Entrants may enter any number of their pets (one pet per form). 
• Voters may vote once in each category per day.
• Winners may only win in ONE category. A runner up will be chosen by vote count as the category winner, should one pet win in two categories
• A random drawing will be conducted among all VOTERS for a bonus prize.
• All prizes will be published online at Find Local Businesses in Spokane | Spokane Pet Business Directory (spokesman.com) during the contest period
• All winners will be announced online and published in print in The Spokesman-Review.

Entries that are late, incomplete, unreadable, inaccurate or otherwise not in compliance with these Official Rules will be disqualified. Sponsor is not responsible for lost or misdirected entries. The Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify an entrant for any attempt to deliberately damage any website or undermine the legitimate operations of The Contest. In the event The Contest is compromised by a virus, bug, non-authorized human intervention, or other causes beyond the control of The Sponsor, which corrupts or impairs the administration, security, fairness or proper play of The Contest, The Sponsor reserves the right to suspend or terminateThe Contest. The Sponsor maintains discretion over prize awards and its right to modify prizes if it is deemed necessary.  

All photos must be original work, taken by the entrants. No third party may own or control any materials the photo contains, and the photo must not infringe upon the trademark, copyright, moral rights, intellectual rights, or rights of privacy of any entity or person.

The photo must be in its original state and cannot be altered in any way, including but not limited to removing, adding, reversing, or distorting subjects within the frame.

Photos must be in the file format of a JPG or PNG.                                                                                                                                                                                  

All winners will be notified within 7 days after they have won. Winners’ first name, last name initial, and the name of their pet will be announced in The Spokesman-Review, on spokesman.com, on Jimmy’s Clubhouse and on the Facebook page of Jimmy’s Clubhouse, without permission or compensation to the winner.  All winners may be used for promotional purposes by The Sponsor, without permission or compensation. Email addresses will NOT be used in promotional advertising, but may be shared with local pet-product advertisers. 

The number of eligible entries will determine the odds of winning a prize. A selected winner may be required to forfeit a prize and an alternate winner may be selected in accordance with these Official Rules from among the remaining eligible entries for that prize if the selected winner (i) is unreachable, (ii) declines or cannot accept, receive or use the prize for any reason, or (iii) fails to comply with these Official Rules.  

Physical prizes will be mailed to the winners. Winners may have to sign for the receipt of prizes.   

LIMITATION OF LIABILITY AND GENERAL CONDITIONS: By participating in The Contest, entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of the sweepstakes administrators. By entering, each entrant agrees to release and hold harmless The Sponsor and each of its parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries and advertising and marketing agencies, and each of their respective employees, officers, shareholders, directors, representatives and agents, collectively, known as “Releasees”, from and against any claims, damages or liability involving or arising out of  (i) late, lost, delayed, misdirected, incomplete, unreadable, inaccurate, garbled or unintelligible entries; (ii) telephone system, technical or computer malfunctions, lost connections, disconnections, transmission or other errors of any kind whether mechanical, human, electronic or otherwise; (iii) data corruption, theft, destruction, unauthorized access to or alteration of entry or other materials; (iv) any injuries, losses or damages of any kind caused, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, by the prize or resulting from acceptance, possession or use or misuse of any prize or from participating in The Contest or any Contest related activity; or (v) any printing, distribution, typographical, administrative, human or technological errors involving or associated with The Contest. 

The Sponsor is not liable for damage to any computer system resulting from participating in or accessing or downloading information in connection with The Contest.  Entries that are late, incomplete, unreadable, inaccurate, false, unintelligible or otherwise not in compliance with these Official Rules will be disqualified. 

Sponsor shall have no liability for any finalist or winner notification that is lost, intercepted or not received for any reason. In Sponsor’s sole discretion, selected potential finalist or winner may be disqualified and required to forfeit the opportunity to participate further in The Contest, and an alternate potential finalist or winner may be selected in accordance with these Official Rules from among the remaining eligible entries for any reason, including without limitation if a selected potential finalist or winner (i) is unreachable or notification is returned as undeliverable; (ii) declines or cannot accept the opportunity to participate further in The Contest for any reason; or (iii) fails to comply with these Official Rules. 

All costs and expenses are not included and are the winners’ responsibilities unless indicated herein as being awarded. No transfer, substitution or cash equivalent of any prize element permitted. Elements of the prize may not be exchanged. Sponsor may substitute a prize (or a portion of a prize) with one of equal or greater retail value if a prize (or a portion of a prize) is unavailable or cannot be awarded for any reason.  Winners will be responsible for reporting and payment of all applicable federal, state and local taxes associated with claiming these prizes. Consult your tax advisor regarding the tax implications of winning.  

Sponsor reserves the right, to modify, cancel or suspend this Contest (or any portion of The Contest) should any virus, bug, computer problem or other cause or problem corrupt or inhibit the administration, security or proper operation of The Contest and, in such situation (or in the event of any type of error), to select the winners from eligible entries received prior to the action taken or in such manner as deemed fair and appropriate by Sponsor. In no event will Sponsor be liable for more than the stated number of prizes in these Official Rules.  Entrants must have all necessary rights in their entries in order to submit them. Sponsor may prohibit entrant from participating in The Contest or winning a prize if, it determines the entrant is attempting to undermine the legitimate operation of The Contest by cheating, hacking, deception, or other unfair practices or intending to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other entrant or Sponsor’s representatives. Releasees have not made and/or are not responsible for any misrepresentation or guaranty, express or implied, in fact or in law, relative to the prizes.

Forfeited prizes may not be awarded.  By entering The Contest, entrants agree that: (1) all disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of or connected with The Contest, or any prizes awarded, shall be resolved individually and directly with The Sponsor.
